the BBC (others) and DRM

Let me see if I can make this point simply.

From a quick read of this article in the Linux Journal, and this pdf from the folks at the BBC,
It seems that the BBC wants to offer it's content under a DRM locked, and vendor-proprietary
format.

Dear folks;

Understand this thing, and understand it clearly;
The simple fact that so-called mainstream media is becoming
less and less relevant is directly tied to this mindset.

The more open and accessable you are, the better chance you will have at remaining
in play. More more closed you are, the less opportunity you will have in participating
in what many have come to call, the global conversation.

That's all.
